Open Enrollment 2027: dates, deadlines and what to have ready
The Support Life Editorial Team · October 28, 2026 · 2 min read
Open Enrollment is the yearly window when anyone eligible can sign up for an ACA Marketplace health plan, switch plans, or make changes without needing a qualifying life event. For 2027 coverage the window opens on November 1, 2026.
When does Open Enrollment end?
Our team is planning around a close of January 15, 2027. Exact deadlines are set by the Marketplace and can differ by state, and the date you enroll can affect when coverage starts. In most states, signing up earlier in the window means your plan can begin on January 1. Always confirm the deadline for your state with a licensed agent or on the official Marketplace website.
Who should look at plans this year?
- Anyone without job-based coverage, Medicaid or another health plan
- Self-employed people, freelancers and gig workers
- Current Marketplace members, because plans, networks and prices change every year
- Anyone whose income or household changed this year
Letting a plan auto-renew without comparing is one of the most common and most costly mistakes. A two-minute review can show you whether a better fit is available.
Four things to have ready
- Your ZIP code, because plans and prices are set by location
- Everyone in your tax household, including dates of birth
- Your best estimate of household income for 2027
- The doctors and prescriptions you want to keep
How savings work
Many households qualify for a premium tax credit that lowers the monthly cost of a Marketplace plan, and some qualify for extra savings on deductibles and copays with a Silver plan. Eligibility depends on income, household size, location and access to other coverage, and only the Marketplace can confirm it from your full application.
